Platte River Kayak...and of course a baby update

Hello all,
I bet you thought this blog was going to be all about the baby. Well it mostly is, but it is titled 'Wittmann News' so I thought I might put up post about what I have been up to. (if you want to find out the latest on Michaella and the baby first scoll down ;>)
As the title suggest I (Dan) did a solo kayak trip down the Platte river. It is still early enough in the spring season to have enough water. 2 day paddle 30 miles total. I put in the water at Two Rivers Park west of Omaha and was able to pull out of the river at Michaella's parents house. They live just off the Platte river. I found myself a nice sand bar in the river to pitch a tent to get some dinner and some great sleep. The weather was perfect 80 degrees, sunny, and the wind at my back. The birds of prey were out in full force, Eagles (bald & golden)and a lot of hawks. All in all it was a quiet, peaceful trip. Just what I was looking for in a trip out to keep in touch with Mother Nature.

Now on to the really important stuff!!!

Only 10 weeks until Baby Wittmann arrives!!!! Wow I know, it is coming fast!
Michaella had another appointment with the midwives today. All good news... both Michaella and Baby are doing well. She has been kicking and flipping around a lot, Baby not Michaella. Michaella is really showing her pregnancy and seems to be glowing more everyday. We have been listening to some nursery rhymes, seems I have forgotten most of the words to the songs. I am not sure with my voice if I should sing to the Baby or not but...why not...singing is fun! Michaella now has to go to the Midwives every two weeks for check ups and next month every week. So far things have been smooth.

Wow! You look like Survivor Man. When did you get a kayak? You need a Jeep. You did take food with you, right? At least there were no bears or bobcats like out west. Glad to hear Michaella and Baby are doing fine! Love the blog! Keep it up! Love, Sally
